Archimedes demonstrated that the surface area of the sphere is two-thirds the surface area of the cylinder, and the volume of the sphere is two-thirds the volume of the cylinder.

Isaac Newton
Newton was knighted by Queen Anne at Trinity College, Cambridge. The knighthood was likely influenced by Newton's role as Master of the Royal Mint, a position he held from 1699 in addition to his groundbreaking contributions to science, particularly in the fields of physics and mathematics. Sir Isaac Newton died at Kensington, London on March 31, 1727, and was buried in Westminster Abbey, the first scientist to be accorded that honor.
Francis Bacon was knighted on July 23, 1603. At the time, Bacon was a lawyer and had been serving in Parliament, but had not yet published his major scientific works. His most well-known work, "Novum Organum" was published years after he was knighted.
